In this chapter, you reviewed DECS and DCRs. Both of these excellent products from Lotus provide developers with a means of directly accessing back-end data and presenting it to Notes, or allowing Notes to control back-end data for further processing ”such as reporting. With Domino 6, there have been some changes in the DECS Administrator and the introduction of the new DCR that permits DECS-style integration directly in a Domino application.
What we covered here is only a small sampling of the power of DECS and DCRs. There are numerous ways of using these products to leverage the data in your company, turning from data into information, which is what enterprise integration is all about.
