First, we will demonstrate how to activate InfoObject 0PLANT's DataSources in the R/3 source system SND_250. Then, we will replicate those DataSources into BW2.
In the rest of this book, we will use SND_250 as the R/3 source system and BW2 as the BW system.
The following steps show how to activate DataSources.
The R/3 Plug-In (PI) must be installed in the source system. The Plug-In interface enables the exchange of data between SAP systems. Technically, the Plug-In contains ABAP objects, such as tables and programs, used for data extraction.
The Plug-In cannot be "plugged out" after its installation. Use the database backup to restore the system to its previous state if needed.
Work InstructionsStep 1. Check whether the DataSources have been activated. Log on to the R/3 source system, execute transaction RSA6, and then click to list the active DataSources.
DataSources in an R/3 source system come in two versions:
The D version is the original definition from the Plug-In. The A version is used in data extraction.
Step 2. Click to search for 0PLANT's DataSources.
In Business Content, DataSources are named in the following format:
Step 3. Enter 0PLANT, and then click again.
Step 4. The displayed message indicates that there are no active 0PLANT DataSources. Click to continue.
Step 5. To activate the 0PLANT DataSources, execute transaction RSA5, and then click to list the D version DataSources.
Step 6. Click to search for the 0PLANT DataSources.
Step 7. Enter 0PLANT, and then click again.
Step 8. Four DataSources are found. Select 0PLANT_ATTR, and then click .
Step 9. To see the definition of 0PLANT_ATTR, select it and then click to display the detail.
Step 10. Now we see a list of DataSource fields.
Fields selected in the Selection column, such as WERKS in this case, will be used as the selection conditions when creating an InfoPackage to load 0PLANT master data.
Double-click BIW_T001WS in the ExtractStruktur text field to see the definition of the extract structure for this DataSource.
Step 11. Screen 10.41 shows an ABAP structure named BIW_T001WS.
Step 12. To activate the DataSource 0PLANT_ATTR, select 0PLANT_ATTR and then click .
The DataSource 0PLANT_ATTR has been activated.
After activating the DataSources on the R/3 source system side, next we need to replicate them on the BW side.
Step 13. From the Administrator Workbench, right-click the source system SND_250, and then select Replicate DataSources.
When the procedure is finished, the status message Tree data refreshed: Source system tree appears at the bottom of Screen 10.44.
Replicating DataSources from a source system will create identical DataSource structures in the BW system.
