This chapter dealt with some advanced Forms 5.x programming concepts and their implementation. The areas explored were a work-around for PL/SQL 2.x in Forms 4.5, populating a PL/SQL table from a block, utilizing PL/SQL 2.x features to implement an efficient Find capability, a method for OS File Output from a block, and tips for getting the query count without executing a query. Finally, two powerful techniques, for performing a server-side exclusive commit from Forms and intersession and interdatabase communication from Forms, were discussed. Last, sharing of record groups across forms was highlighted.
