Summary

Many graphical elements can be inserted into a Word document, including clip art and pictures and basic shapes created with Word's drawing tools.

An effective way to present information is with a tabbed list or a table. A variety of tabs can be used, such as left-aligned, decimal, centered, or right-aligned. Leader characters , such as a solid, dotted , or dashed line, can be used to fill the space created by using a tab stop.

Tables present information in a format of rows and columns . One advantage of a Word table is that you can display multiple lines of text in a cell and still maintain a horizontal relationship with the other cells in the same row. Tables can be formatted to display the information in a manner that emphasizes certain parts of the table. Text in a table can be formatted using both the Formatting toolbar and the Table AutoFormat command. Existing text can be converted to a table format.
