Reporting Music You Can t Find in the Store

Reporting Music You Can't Find in the Store

Although the iTunes Music Store is great, it isn't perfect. Its major flaw, which is a perfectly understandable one, is that it doesn't contain every song ever produced (as if that were even possible). The good news is that Apple is continually adding music to the store, especially as music producers and record companies see what a great way it is for them to distribute their music.

If you can't find the music you want to buy in the store, you can let Apple know about it. (Who knows, your contact might be the one that causes some specific artist or music to be added to the store!)

To request music, perform the following steps:

1.

Open the Music Store Customer Service page by selecting Help, iTunes and Music Store Service and Support and then clicking the iTunes Music Store Customer Service site link.

2.

In the FAQ section, click the Request a song or artist link. You'll move to the Request Music web page.

3.

Complete the onscreen form by entering your name, email address, type of request (such as requesting an artist or album), and the specific request you are making in the Comments box.

4.

Use the drop-down lists and check boxes to supply the additional information that is requested.

5.

Click Send Feedback. Your request will be submitted, and you will see a confirmation screen that explains that you won't get a personal response to your request. Hopefully, at some point, the music you requested will be added to the store.

The Absolute Minimum

The iTunes Music Store is a great tool to search for and add music to your iTunes Library. In fact, you might never purchase a CD again (okay, that's a bit dramatic, but you get the idea). Fortunately, the iTunes Music Store works very well and you aren't likely to have any problems using it, which is a good thing.

Just in case, in this chapter, you learned how to do the following tasks:

  • Recover music you didn't download successfully.

  • Solve the "Not Authorized to Play" issue.

  • Fix problems with your iTunes Music Store account.

  • Get help from Apple.

  • Request music you can't find in the store.

If you do have problems and none of the information in this chapter helps you, you can always write to me at bradmacosx@mac.com, and I will do my best to help you get back into your best shopping form.
