A metallic raceway with its associated fittings mounted to the surface of a structure.

II. Installation

Uses Permitted

It can be used in dry locations, in Class I Division 2 hazardous locations in accordance with 501.4(B) Exception, through walls and floors under certain conditions, and under raised floors in accordance with 656.5(D)(2).

Uses Not Permitted

It cannot be installed where it might be damaged, where there are corrosive vapors, in hoistways, where the voltage between conductors is 300 V or more unless the metal is at least 1.02 mm (0.04 in.), or concealed.

Size of Conductors

Conductors cannot be larger than the raceway is designed.

Number of Conductors or Cables

Refer to design criteria. Exceptions to the use of derating factors are noted in the NEC® in this paragraph.
