Cisco CallManager User ConfigurationRegardless of the directory you use to store user information, the CallManager configuration remains the same. You can perform all user administration for Cisco CallManager from the same CallManager Administration web pages you have used thus far for the CallManager configuration. Adding a UserFigure 6-1 shows an example of adding a user to the Cisco CallManager directory database by using Cisco CallManager Administration. To add a user in Cisco CallManager Administration, choose User > Add a New User from the CallManager CCMAdmin web pages. Figure 6-1. Cisco CallManager User Configuration Window
Before adding a user, gather the following user information:
If the user is going to access the Cisco SoftPhone application, Cisco Auto Attendant, or any other computer telephony integration (CTI) application, check the Enable CTI Application Use check box. When you are first setting up a user, assign a simple password (at least four characters ) and a personal identification number (PIN), which must be at least five digits, for the user to use on the initial login. The user can then change the initial password and PIN from the Cisco CallManager User Options page. The Cisco CallManager uses the user password and PIN for different functions in the voice network. For example, the user can use their password to log in to the User Options web pages while they can use their PIN to access a phone using Extension Mobility (which is covered in Chapter 17, "Configuring User Features, Part 2"). After the directory information is added, you can associate the user with a device or devices. Configuring Device PoolsAfter you have added a user, you can associate devices over which the user will have control. When users have control of an IP Phone, they can control certain settings for that phone, such as speed dialing and call forwarding. You can associate a user with many devices; however, only one of the devices can be the primary extension for that user. Figure 6-2 shows the Device Association window. Figure 6-2. To assign devices to a user, access the User Configuration window for that user and then complete the following steps to assign the devices:

User Logon and Device ConfigurationAfter you have added users to the LDAP database and associated them with the appropriate devices, those users will be able to log on to the CallManager User Options web page to configure their devices. Of course, before the users begin accessing these web pages, some training will be necessary. You might find it beneficial to create a step-by-step training manual for your organization that you can distribute to users or post on an intranet website describing each of the following sections.
Tip You can use the following sections in the book (which walk through the user configuration options) as a model when creating your organization user training manual. CallManager User Options: Log OnTo open the Cisco CallManager User Options web page, enter this URL: https ://<server_name>/ccmuser The server name is the hostname or IP address of the Cisco CallManager server.
Tip It would be very beneficial to use a network policy, such as the Active Directory Group Policy options, to automatically add a desktop shortcut or Microsoft Internet Explorer favorite linked to the CCMUser web pages for all PCs in the network. At the Cisco CallManager User Options page (shown in Figure 6-3), enter the correct username and password. If this is the first time that the user is logging on, the user should obtain the URL, username, and password from the administrator. Figure 6-3. Cisco CallManager User Options: Log On Window
From any page within Cisco CallManager User Options web pages, a user can change the language of the page by choosing the language (locale) from the View Page In drop-down menu, if additional locales have been configured. CallManager User Options: WelcomeAfter logging on, CallManager presents a user with the User Options welcome screen, shown in Figure 6-4. From there, the user can select an associated device to configure. The user can customize multiple associated devices by choosing more than one device. Figure 6-4. A web location allowing users to customize Cisco IP Phone settings, such as adding speed dials and forwarding calls means that users can be more productive in their work environment. For example, when a user is not going to be in the office to receive an important call, the user can access the Cisco CallManager User Options web page from home and forward calls from the Cisco IP Phone to a cellular telephone or any other DN. CallManager User Options: Call ForwardingFigure 6-5 shows the Forward Your Calls page. To display this page, click the Forward All Calls to a Different Number link in the User Options main menu. From here, this user can forward all incoming calls on line 1 of a device to either voice mail or another number. If the user is forwarding calls to another number, the calling search space of the device using Call Forward All (CFA) will restrict which numbers will be valid. Also, if the number is forwarded off-net, the user must enter the number as if dialing from that telephone device. For example, a user who wants to work from home wants all calls to the office telephone to forward to the home number. If the user dials 92145550122 to call home from the office, the user must enter 92145550122 as the forwarding number. CallManager User Options: Speed DialsFigure 6-6 shows the Add/Update Your Speed Dials web page. To display this page, click the Add/Update Your Speed Dials link in the User Options main menu. Depending on the device, the number of speed dials is limited based on settings in the phone button template. The user can enter a number and label for each available speed dial button. Buttons are available if the user is not using them for lines or services. As you can see from Figure 6-6, the speed dial configuration window is divided into two sections: Speed Dial Settings on Phone and Speed Dial Settings not associated with a phone button. The settings on a phone represent the speed dials that correspond to a physical button on the IP Phone. For example, if the user is using a Cisco IP Phone 7960 with the default template, they will have two line buttons and four speed dial buttons. These four speed dial buttons represent the buttons programmable from the "Speed Dial Settings on Phone" section. The settings not associated with a phone button are accessed when the user first presses the AbbrDial softkey on their Cisco IP Phone then dials the corresponding number. For example, to access the speed dial listed in field 5 shown in Figure 6-6, the user would press AbbrDial on the phone, then press the 5 button on the numeric keypad. The user can also perform the reverse steps to activate the speed dial number (for example, dial 5 followed by pressing the AbbrDial softkey). When programming speed dials, enter the number precisely as it is dialed from the device. If the number 9 must be dialed before the telephone number, the 9 must be part of the speed dial number that is entered. For example, if the telephone number is 4805550199 and the access code for an outside line is 9, the speed dial number must be entered as 94805550199.
Tip In older versions of CallManager, the Cisco IP Phone required a restart to update speed dial configurations. Since CallManager version 3.3, a restart is no longer necessary. CallManager User Options: IP Phone ServicesFigure 6-7 shows the Subscribe/Unsubscribe IP Phone Services web page. You can configure a number of IP Phone services for user subscription. For example, you could configure services that store telephone numbers, meeting room availability, traffic reports , and more. The user can then use the Subscribe/Unsubscribe IP Phone Services page in Cisco CallManager User Options to subscribe to or unsubscribe from any of the Cisco IP Phone Services that you have configured. IP Phone service configuration is covered in Chapter 16, "Configuring User Features, Part 1." For example, if you have configured a service that looks up the stock price of a company, a user can subscribe to that service from the Subscribe/Unsubscribe IP Phone Services page in CallManager User Options. To view the stock price of a company, the user can press the Services button on a Cisco IP Phone 7970, 7960, or 7940 and view the stock price on the IP Phone liquid crystal display (LCD). You can also associate a service with one of the line/speed dial buttons to allow quick access to XML applications, such as a corporate directory or speed dial list. CallManager User Options: Personal Address Book and Fast DialThe Personal Address Book service allows a user to store names and numbers for people internal and external to the company. A user can also assign Fast Dial codes to Personal Address Book entries and dial those codes in place of phone numbers. With the Fast Dial service, users can assign one- or two-digit index numbers (from 1 to 99) for quick dialing from the Cisco IP Phone. Users can assign index numbers either to Personal Address Book entries or to directory entries that they add that do not correspond to address book entries. The Personal Address Book and Fast Dial features are not available from the base Cisco IP Phone feature set. Rather, Cisco has implemented them as XML services. You must configure these services in the Cisco CallManager Service Configuration web interface before the CallManager will make them available for user subscription. Chapter 16 covers XML Service configuration. Users can configure the Personal Address Book and Fast Dial features from the Personal Address Book page in Cisco CallManager User Options. After subscribing to these services, a user can access the Personal Address Book and Fast Dial codes from the Cisco IP Phone by pressing the Services button. Figure 6-8 shows the Find/List Address Book Entries page. To display this page, choose the Configure Your Cisco Personal Address Book link in the User Options main menu. From the Find/List Address Book Entries page, users can add a new Personal Address Book entry, create or modify Fast Dial codes to reach address book entries, or search for address book entries by using either complete or partial strings. CallManager User Options: Message Waiting Lamp PolicyFigure 6-9 shows the Change Your Message Waiting Lamp Policy page. To display this page, click the Change the Message Waiting Lamp Policy for Your Phone link in the User Options main menu. From here, a user can set the message waiting lamp policy for their device. The mainline Cisco IP Phones have extremely noticeable message waiting lights (they have been called a "Beacon in the Night" by some). Because of this, there are five settings that the user can configure: Use System Policy, Light and Prompt, Prompt Only, Light Only, and None. The light configuration illuminates the external lamp on the phone. This can be seen from some distance (such as in a lighthouse from the ocean). The prompt configuration displays an envelope animation on the display screen of the phone. The default system policy is set to light the lamp and prompt the user. Figure 6-9. CallManager User Options: Locale SettingsCisco CallManager allows users to select their preferred language settings for both the devices they are using and the user web pages they access. By default, the Cisco CallManager comes with only the English language selection. However, you can obtain additional languages from Cisco based on the location(s) of your users. Supported locales include the following:
If a user locale is not selected, the systemwide locale is used. Figure 6-10 shows the Select a User Locale for Your Phone page. To display the language selection pages, click the Change the Locale for This Phone or Change the Locale for These Web Pages link in the User Options main menu.
