Part VI:  Appendixes

In this appendix you will learn:

  • How to download and install JBuilder

  • How to develop applications

  • How to debug applications

  • How to develop JSPs with JBuilder

Borland JBuilder is a very nice Java Integrated Development Environment. It compares favorably, featurewise, with products like Visual Café and Forte. Unlike Forte, JBuilder is a commercial product that must be purchased. A 30-day trial version of JBuilder is available for free from http://www.borland.com/products/downloads/download_jbuilder.html.

JBuilder is a complete environment for developing Java applications. It features editors for Java source code, JavaServer Pages, tag libraries, XML, and J2EE deployment descriptors. It also features a source code debugger that performs the full range of stepping, breaking, and watching that programmers expect from development tools.

JBuilder is useful for developing both standalone applications and Web-based applications with JSPs and servlets. In this chapter, you will learn how to obtain and install the JBuilder software on your computer. You will learn how to use JBuilder to develop and debug Java programs. Finally, you will learn how to create and debug Web-based applications using JBuilder.
