Chapter 1. Director Basics

Imagine you're moving into a new office or workshop that's fully stocked with furniture, supplies , and equipment. Would you just walk in and start working?

No, of course not ”you'd want to get settled in first. You'd look through the drawers and supply cabinets to see what's there. You'd find out where the electrical outlets are. You'd try out the high-tech equipment to see how it works. You'd arrange the furniture and decorate the walls in a way that made you comfortable.

Well, Director is an environment where you're going to be spending a lot of time, so it's worth spending a few minutes to set it up the way you like it. This chapter will show you some of the tools you'll be using and introduce a few basic concepts. It will also show you how you can customize Director's interface to suit your working style.
