| Contacts can record and track all the info you need about the people you work with, go out with, and even those you see for a few minutes every holiday season. Speedy access is why Contacts is such a powerful application and why you should examine these pages. Sync to save time Create contacts in Outlook or Palm Desktop software, and then sync. You'll save time and speed up the entry process. |
Sync to back up Whether you sync with Outlook or Palm Desktop software, your addresses and phone numbers are backed up, creating a safety net for some of your most important info. |
Attach notes Attach a note with directions to a friend's house. Select the contact, tap Edit, and tap the Note icon. The note stays attached until you delete it. To learn more about using notes, see page 44. |
Look up contacts with the navigator In the Contacts list view, press right on the navigator to display the letter boxes. Press up or down to scroll through the alphabet, and press right to select the next box. When the contact appears onscreen, press the center button. Scroll to the name you want, and press center to open the contact info.

Create custom fi elds  Select Options > Rename Custom Fields. Tap any of the nine fields and enter a new name.

|  Use custom fields any way you like. Remember that they appear in all contacts, not just an individual category.

Use categories Contacts has fi ve default categories: All, Business, Personal, QuickList, and Unfi led. Tap the pick list in the upper-right corner to view categories. From the list, select Edit Categories to create, rename, or delete categories. |
Scroll categories Categories make it easier to sort Contacts with one hand. Make a category for a city you're visiting, or for people you expect to see at a party. When you need fast info, just press the Contacts button to scroll through the categories. |
Real Life: Categories 
Jamie is a professional painter. She has created categories for art dealers, gallery owners, and fellow artists to help keep track of her industry. But her customers cut across several categories. To track where her works have gone, she creates custom fields: "Painting name," "Date of sale," and "Price." |
Category maximum You can have as many as 15 Contacts categories, and each contact can be assigned to only one 0category. Select the All category to see all your contacts at once. |
