AspectJ is a seamless aspect-oriented extension to the Java programming language that is designed to be easy to learn and use and fully Java platform-compatible. This chapter provides a brief introduction to the goals of the AspectJ project and gives an overview of the AspectJ language and supporting tools. We conclude by looking at future directions for AspectJ.
