As developers and designers turn more and more toward Flash as a front-end application solution, data persistence will increasingly become an issue. Large-scale applications will use sophisticated middle-tier code on remote servers to store data in a variety of ways from databases to text files to serialized objects. Such complex architectures are obviously not an option for smaller-scale applications, such as games and simple tools that are becoming easier and faster to create in Flash than in traditional programming environments.
