Subscribing to Newsgroups

With so many newsgroups available, you'll probably want to be selective about the ones you review. You can do so in Windows Mail by subscribing to the newsgroups you like. Those newsgroups will appear in the message pane when you select the news server, and they'll also appear on the Folders bar, if it's displayed, when you expand the listing for a news server. (Many newsgroups are now based on Web pages, so you can access them by using your Internet browser.)

Specify Your Newsgroups

With Windows Mail open and connected to the Internet, click the news server you want to access.

If you receive a notification that you're not subscribed to any newsgroups, specify whether you want to show the newsgroups with or without the Communities feature turned on.

If no dialog box appears, click the Newsgroups button.

If you have more than one news server, specify the one you want to use.

Double-click a newsgroup to subscribe to it. Repeat to subscribe to all the newsgroups you want to access.

Click OK.

Tip

The Communities feature is an enhancement to newsgroups; it allows you to rate other posts, add questions, show your profile, and more. To use these enhanced features, you need to sign in to the newsgroup using a .net passport.
