Acknowledgments

Some of the most exciting features of Microsoft Office 2003 involve enhancing collaboration and improving communication, and the team who worked on this book exemplifies the best of those concepts. (We used SharePoint Team Services to work collaboratively from very different areas of the world, by the way.) Huge thanks go to each of the following people for the part they played in getting this book into your hands:

  • Kristen Weatherby, project editor, for somehow moving this project through at break neck speed while ensuring its quality and keeping her cool;

  • Alex Blanton, acquisitions editor, for thinking this book was possible in the first place and then gracefully removing all the stumbling blocks that fell into our path;

  • Claudette Moore, my agent at Moore Literary Agency, for being a great sounding board and taking care of business details so that I could keep writing;

  • Brian Johnson, technical editor at Microsoft Press and the author of Chapter 7, who jumped in at almost the last minute and wrote a wonderful chapter (and helped capture images);

  • W. Frederick Zimmerman, who did a terrific job explaining the exciting new features of Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 in Chapter 4, which he contributed;

  • Steve Sagman proprietor of Studioserv, for his always stellar hands-on management of this project; Teri Kieffer for a great-and fast-copy edit; Sharon Bell for her artistic FrameMaker talents; and Julie Kawabata for a fine index.

Finally, I truly appreciate the help of the many people inside and outside Microsoft who answered questions, provided support documents, and offered examples and insights I've used in this book. Special thanks to authors Jim Buyens, Mark Dodge, Craig Stinson, Acey Bunch, and Michael Young, as well as Microsoft professionals Roan Kang and Frank Rice. Your contributions have made this a better book.
