Making the Connection

Connecting a digital camera or scanner to your PC is extremely easy, especially if you have a newer model with a USB or FireWire connection. With this type of setup, Windows will recognize your camera or scanner as soon as you plug it in and install the appropriate drivers automatically.

If Windows does not recognize your camera or scanner, you can use the Scanners and Cameras utility to install the new device on your system. From the Control Panel, select Printers and Other Hardware, and then Scanners and Cameras; when the Scanners and Cameras utility appears, click Add an Imaging Device. This launches the Scanner and Camera Installation Wizard. Follow the onscreen instructions to identify the make and manufacturer of your device and complete the installation.
