4.21. Why are analytics so important to ESA?

Using the flexibility of ESA to embed analytics inside enterprise applications provides the opportunity to close the loop between analysis and action.

Enterprise services provide access to functionality and information across the entire universe of enterprise applications. Services provided by SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence (SAP NetWeaver BI) and capabilities such as the BI Accelerator, provide the ability to analyze large volumes of information. SAP xApp Analytics combines the ability to analyze what is happening in a process and then take the right actions.

In the past, users were required to leave enterprise applications when they needed to perform some analysis function. In other words, a context switch was required from the enterprise application to an analytical environment. Once insights were gained, another context switch back to the enterprise application was required to move the process forward in the right manner.

Now, hundreds of SAP analytic xApps are being embedded in enterprise applications. This means that management of the business process, analytics, and the means to take action to resolve problems or work with others is part of one seamless environment.

Analytic applications are being created using SAP NetWeaver Visual Composer, a model-driven development environment that simplifies development and allows business analysts to create and adapt analytic applications.

In all of these ways, the development of analytic capabilities acts as a catalyst to crystallize the creation of value based on ESA.
