7 - Inserting XML Data Using OpenXML

In the previous chapters, we’ve examined many ways of extracting XML data from Microsoft SQL Server. This process is, of course, a vital aspect of building an integration solution and one that deserves the amount of attention we have given it. However, another equally important issue is the task of inserting XML data into the database. In this chapter, we’ll turn our attention to the OpenXML function, which is used primarily to insert data from an XML document into tables in the database.
