Basically, the final word is that touring should be fun. You may not get to do this for the rest of your life. Or you may. Look at touring as an end, not a means. Enjoy each one like it's your last. You are doing this because it seems more interesting than working in an office to you. Why make it as dreary as that office job? Have fun. Get out and see the world. Take lots of photos. Keep a journal. Make friends . Get drunk. Have sex. But use condoms and be so nice to your fellow starving musicians that you are all pals when it's over.
