Using the Update As Scheduled Function

If your project is going completely according to schedule and you want to update the status of the tasks that are in progress, Project provides you with a shortcut. You can tell Project to update all tasks in the project to be as complete as the original plan said they should be up to the current date (or the status date).

Use the Update As Scheduled Function

graphics/one_icon.jpg Set the status date of your project as shown on the previous page. (For our example, the current date is 8/9 and the status date is 8/5.)

graphics/two_icon.jpg Show the Tracking toolbar as shown in the section "Using the Tracking Toolbar Button."

graphics/three_icon.jpg Select the tasks you want to update.

graphics/four_icon.jpg Click the Update As Scheduled toolbar button.

graphics/five_icon.jpg The blue line represents the status date.

graphics/six_icon.jpg Notice that the progress bar for all tasks that start before the status date are now updated right up to the status date.
