Applying WordArt Text Effects

You can apply a number of text effects to your WordArt objects to change letter heights, justification, and spacing. The effect of some of the adjustments you make will be more pronounced for certain WordArt styles than for others. Some of these effects will make the text unreadable for certain styles, so apply them carefully . Other effects ”such as making uppercase and lower-case characters the same height ”add an interesting dimension to the text.

Make All Letters the Same Height

Click the WordArt object.

Click the WordArt Same Letter Heights button on the WordArt toolbar.

Click a blank area of the worksheet to deselect the WordArt object.

You can format WordArt text vertically . Click the WordArt object, click the WordArt Vertical Text button on the WordArt toolbar. When you're done, click a blank area of the worksheet to deselect it.

Align WordArt

Click the WordArt object.

Click the WordArt Alignment button on the WordArt toolbar.

Click an alignment button.

Click a blank area of the worksheet to deselect the WordArt object.

Adjust Character Spacing

Click the WordArt object.

Click the WordArt Character Spacing button on the WordArt toolbar.

Click a spacing setting button, or click Custom and type a custom percentage.

Click to select or clear the Kern Character Pairs option to adjust the space between characters.

Click a blank area of the worksheet to deselect the WordArt object.

Did You Know?

You can print a sample of your WordArt document . The look of a WordArt object on your screen may differ from the printed output, especially if you do not have access to a color printer. Print a sample to make sure you like the final result.
