Digital Performer makes a distinction when it comes to editing audio files versus MIDI files. Basically, a MIDI file is just a bunch of data. The data is sent to a device such as a synthesizer, computer, or music keyboard, and that device assigns a sound to the data. Digital Performer provides you with a vast number of editing capabilities when it comes to MIDI files. This chapter examines one of those editing functions: the List Editor.
