Using an HTTP Server

Once the HTTP Server is configured, start it by clicking the green Start button displayed at the top of Figure 31.10, or by issuing this command on the i5 server:

      STRTCPSVR SERVER(*HTTP) HTTPSVR(your-http-server-name)

Once it's started, open a separate browser window and point it at the IP address http://www.your-i5-ip-address. It will open the default Web page shown in Figure 31.11.

Figure 31.11: Default home page.

The default home page is not intended for use in an application, but rather as a simple test to verify that the HTTP Server is running and that browsers on remote clients are able to communicate with it. Now that the HTTP Server is up and running, its time to discuss some of the basic configuration options.
