PART OVERVIEW

I hear stories. When I tell people I'm an Emotional Continuity Management consultant they say something like, "We had this guy we called "The Thief" because he took credit for work that wasn't his. We tried to get rid of him but he was union. Finally he moved on to another job. Now we have this manager who is driving everyone crazy. She's a player and everyone is all stirred up again." I ask, "What do you call her?"

Humans are biochemical, electrical, organic and symbolic creatures . We like flags and buttons with logos. Giving people titles and nicknames help us organize our thinking. Categories are useful to a point. Constructing policies and programs to organize our universe is useful. Vision and mission statements, company logos, and teamwork icons create templates for symbolic management. Chaos is manageable when turned into a list, document, policy, or procedure.

While many organizations and companies create volumes of procedures, policies, rules and guidelines for workplace expectations, it is not yet common to create the same organized process to organize emotional content. Emotional Continuity Management is a way to start organizing emotions by using new ideas, logos, symbols, analogies , fantasies, discussion and tools. Companies will spend countless dollars "chasing a worm" in a computer. Companies may need to spend equal dollars chasing an "emotional tornado " at work!
