The Access Package

Access has always been available as a stand-alone product. It's also available with Office. There are four versions of Office 2002, but only Office 2002 Professional and Office 2002 Developer include Access 2002. (Access isn't available for the Macintosh.)

Microsoft recommends that you run Office 2002 on Windows XP Professional, on a system with a Pentium III processor and at least 128MB of RAM. The Office 2002 (and Access 2002) minimum requirements are listed in Table 9.1. Except for the minimum hard disk space, the minimum requirements for Office 2002 and Access 2002 are identical.

All the following require an additional 8MB of RAM for each Office program running simultaneously:
Windows 98: 24MB of RAM
Windows 98 Second Edition: 24MB of RAM
Windows Me: 32MB of RAMMicrosoft

Windows 2000 Professional: 64MB of RAM
Windows XP Professional: 128MB of RAM
Windows XP Home Edition: 128MB of RAM

Hard Disk

Office 2002 Standard: 210MB of available hard disk space
Office 2002 Professional: 245MB of available hard disk space
Professional Special Edition: 245MB of available hard disk space
An additional 115MB is required on the hard disk where the operating system is installed.
Stand-alone version of Access requires 170MB of hard disk space.
Users without Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Me, or Office 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1) require an extra 50MB of hard disk space for System Files Update.
