Chapter 6. Collecting Assets in the Album

 < Day Day Up >

The Album is an integral component of Studio's interface: a place for loading video, still images, and audio files the basic assets that comprise your project into separate, tab-selected folders before integrating them into your projects. The Album also contains transitions, titles, and menus effects discussed in subsequent chapters.

The Album isn't a true bin or library, like those found in many programs, that stores the imported assets in a project file. Rather, the Album simply displays the files in the currently selected directory.

One Album feature is critical to users working with 16:9 video. Although Studio should detect 16:9 video during capture, it may not if you load 16:9 video from another source, such as a previously captured file. In such instances, you can now switch the Album to 16:9 viewing mode, directing Studio to process the video in 16:9 mode.

Otherwise, the Album's features compared with the flexible Storyboard, bountiful transitions, and other rich features that lie beyond are not Studio's most impressive. However, the Album is unquestionably one of Studio's most valuable tools. You could easily spend the bulk of your time just finding the assets to put into your project; working efficiently in the Album reduces this time considerably.
