Do Ask for Discount When Paying Cash

As a general rule, ask for more and you will get more. If you are paying by credit card there is always a surcharge for the person supplying you, anything from 3 to 5 per cent. Make a habit of asking for discount - say, 'I understand that the credit card costs you 5 per cent; if I pay by cash, I assume that I can knock that off the bill.'

It won't work all the time because there are some people who actually prefer the lower risk of having less cash and you will have to find another approach. But do try it anyway.
