Starting the SuSE Installation Procedure

| Put the CD or DVD in the CD or DVD drive and turn on the power to your computer. The computer will boot from the CD or DVD and display the installation start screen. (If your machine doesn't boot from the CD/DVD, see Chapter 3.) The opening screen for SuSE is shown here: Figure 4-28. The start screen for SuSE 9.0.
The SuSE start screen offers several options. Boot from Harddisk is selected by default and will start unless you select another option. Notice the status bar that says "booting in 9s" (9 seconds). Use the down-arrow key ( Figure 4-29. The transition screen for SuSE 9.0. You don't need to respond to or understand the lines on the screen. |
) to highlight Installation. Press <Enter> to start. The installation procedure begins by performing a few tasks, displaying its progress as shown in Figure 4-29.
