In this chapter, you learned about the .NET framework; you were introduced to ASP.NET; and you learned about distributed application architecture and its design. The .NET framework includes the plumbing to make development of distributed applications much easier. ASP.NET provides a tool that simplifies the programming model. You also learned about the fundamentals of distributed applications and the various items that it comprises. You learned how and why this design suits today's enterprise applications.
The next two chapters teach you about the three languages that come with Visual Studio: VB, C#, and JScript.
