Front and Center: A Sum Far Greater Than the Parts

You won't find a chapter like this in many manuals of this type. Most books try to tell you how a product works, but we truly believe that the real power of FrontPage 2003 is in how it all works together. We hope you've seen that here.

You can use FrontPage to quickly design Web content through the WYSIWYG interface, use FrontPage Wizards to develop code that might be used within the page, use FrontPage to edit that code or script (or create your own), and use FrontPage to manage how all the files are maintained and stored in your site.

In addition, you can use FrontPage to publish (or synchronize) your site to any server with publishing capabilities and use third-party graphic and multimedia development products to enhance your site. You can also make use of Microsoft's full line of additional server-based technologies to produce the best Web development experience possible.

As the site is being developed, the Task view can be used to keep everyone on "the same page" while development occurs and keep track of the site through complex reports and file assignments.

It isn't the only program you will ever use, but a solid understanding of the product will keep it at the front (pun intended) of any Web development project you might find yourself involved in.

Enjoy the rest of this book as we delve deeply into the features we only briefly discuss here.
