Appendix D: Using Sun s Java Compiler
Overview
The Java examples in the body of this book are compiled using Microsoft’s Java compiler. Another popular Java compiler, Java 2 SDK (Software Development Kit), is available from Sun Microsystems. This appendix explains how to obtain, install, and use the Java 2 SDK compiler, and it also demonstrates some of the other Java resources that are available from Sun. If you are going to use the Java SDK, you may also want to install a DOS command line replacement. There are several shareware and freeware versions available that have features (for example, a vertical scroll bar) that make running the Java SDK commands easier.
