Installation of Qshell

To determine whether or not Qshell is installed on your system, type GO LICPGM at a CL command line and press Enter. This takes you to the Work with Licensed Programs menu. Choose option 10 to display licensed programs. Page through the list looking for an entry for the Qshell interpreter. If you do not find such an entry, Qshell has not been installed.

To install Qshell, load the distribution media that contains i5/OS and select option 11 from the Work with Licensed Programs menu. Page through the list until you find product option 30. Key 1 in the option column for that line and press Enter. The system will ask you for confirmation that you wish to install the interpreter and, after you have confirmed that you do, will present a panel of install options. Verify that the name of the installation device is correct and choose option 1 (Programs and language objects) of the Objects to install entry field. Installing Qshell does not require an IPL, so enter N in the Automatic IPL field.

When installation is complete, the Work with Licensed Programs menu will be redisplayed and you will see a completion message at the bottom of the menu.
