Appendix A: ASCII Character Chart

Sometimes in Flash, you might need to use the ASCII value of a character instead of the actual character. When that happens, you can obtain the value you need by using an ASCII chart that lists each character along with its associated numerical value.

The first half of the ASCII character chart is printed in Table A.1. Please note that the first 32 characters ”labeled 0 through 31 ”and value 127 are unprintable. The second half of the ASCII chart is widely available on the Web. It contains many characters that have special punctuation around them. The characters , ¢, §, and are examples from the second half of the chart. Because the second half is rarely used, I'm not going to print them all here. Instead, use an Internet search engine such as Google for a full list of ASCII characters if you need them.
