Contacts is so handy that you might quickly find your address book growing like crazy. Use the menus to take control so the names and numbers you need are easy to find. Password protection If you want to keep track of sensitive information like your brokerage account number or your children's social security numbers, go to Home > Prefs > Security to mask or hide contacts with a password. Use multiple cards Create multiple business cards if you don't want to share your home phone number with business contacts, or your work address with new friends. Remember to reset which card is your business card before you beam. |
Create your business card Create a business card with all your contact info. Tap the Menu icon and select Record > Select Business Card. |
Share your business card Press and hold the Contacts button to beam your business card. It's the quickest way to swap info when you're networking. |
Delete a contact | From the list view, tap any entry to display it. Record (list view) For people at the same company, use Duplicate Contact to duplicate all the contact info, and then just change the name, phone, and email. Options (list view) You can change the font in list view without affecting the font in entry view (Options > Font). In Preferences, check the Remember Last Category box to make Contacts show the last category you selected when you open the application again. Record (entry view) Delete, duplicate, and beam a contact from this view. If you have connectivity software, you'll see Send Contact and Connect (shown), which open other applications such as email. You can attach or delete a note from this view as well as from the entry view. |
Emergency contacts In a crisis, you don't have time to sort through all your contact information. Create a category called "Emergencies" to keep phone numbers for fire, police, the veterinarian, and baby-sitters. |
Customize contact info If you want to remember a contact's spouse's name or a client's favorite restaurant, create a custom field in Contacts. Select Menu > Options > Rename Custom Fields. |
Remember birthdays Instead of entering birthdays in Calendar, use Contacts. Open Contacts, tap Edit, scroll down, and tap Birthday. Contacts automatically enters it in Calendar. |
