This chapter has presented many of the issues developers face when they design and implement a distributed system. The Microsoft .NET Server operating system together with the .NET servers provides a solid platform that you can use to meet these challenges. If you're a Java developer and want to continue developing using the Java programming language, you can do so using Visual J# .NET.

The remainder of this book will look in detail at each aspect of distributed application development with J#.
