Chapter 13: Creating Subreports

Overview

The time will come when a report user comes to you with a request to create an impossible report. For example, they may want something like:

• A report that includes information from a table that can't be linked to any other table within a database. Perhaps this information is from a different data source than the report uses.

• A report that displays the same data in two or more different ways.

To make matters worse, these report users are people you usually can't say "no" to. So, what do you do?

The answer to your impossible report problem is subreports. In this chapter, we explore subreports and how they allow you to display data that cannot be linked using a traditional report, as well as display different views of the same data within a single report.
