The .NET framework has a number of cryptography functions that allow for encryption, digital signatures, hashing, and the generation of random numbers. The asymmetric algorithms, RSA and DSA, the symmetric algorithms, DES, TripleDES, and RC2, and the hashes, MD5 and SHA1, are all supported. These are implemented as stream-based algorithms so that data is streamed through the encryption function before being routed to a network location.
