WebLogic Constituents and Directory Structure

After installing and configuring your domain server, the following directories are present in your BEA home:

• jdk131 (present in Windows installations and Unix installations done with a .bin file) This contains the directory jdk131, which is used by the WebLogic application server.

• logs This directory contains the log maintained by WebLogic mentioning the time of WebLogic installation. The rest of the logs are maintained in directories that are specified in the Administration Console for each of the domains.

• user_domains This directory contains the files and directories created for your domain through the configuration wizard.

• utils This directory contains the JAR files required to install the BEA WebLogic platform products. It also contains the utils.jar file required to run the UpdateLicense utility.

• weblogic700 This directory contains all the WebLogic Server software. These are the directories within this directory:

  • common This directory contains files that are shared by the entire WebLogic installation and includes the templates directory, which contains files used by the configuration wizard.

  • samples This directory contains the source code for the examples, the examples server, and the PointBase directory eval.

  • server This directory contains files that are used by the WebLogic Server to function smoothly. The bin, builder, ext, and lib directories exist here. Executable files for tools such as ejbc, WebLogic Builder, and so on are stored in the bin directory. The file weblogic.jar, classes12.zip, and other required library files are stored in the lib directory. This directory is added to the classpath environment variable in the setEnv.cmd file, while the bin directory is added to the path environment variable.

  • Uninstall This directory contains the files and code to uninstall WebLogic Server.
