Steps after Installation

BEA WebLogic 7.0 server comes with examples for each of the services that the server offers. These are run under the WebLogic Examples Server. To run your own examples, deploy them in your own domain server. Directions to start your WebLogic Examples Server and your domain follow.

Starting the WebLogic Examples Server

You can start the WebLogic examples server two ways:

  • Through the Start menu Click Start > Programs > BEA WebLogic Platform 7.0 > Server Tour and Examples > Launch Examples Server.

  • Through the command prompt Launch a command-prompt window, navigate to the directory USER_INSTALL_DIR\samples\server\config\examples, and execute the cmd file startExamplesServer.

Starting the WebLogic Domain Server

To start your domain server, launch a command-prompt window and navigate to the directory BEA_HOME\user_domains\mydomain and execute the cmd file startWebLogic.

Starting the PointBase Console

PointBase is the pure Java database provided with WebLogic for trial development purposes. To start your PointBase console through the Start menu, click Start > Programs > BEA WebLogic Platform 7.0 > Server Tour and Examples > PointBase Console.

Starting the WebLogic Builder

WebLogic Builder is a visual tool provided by BEA to edit and validate configuration XML files. Day 19, "Using WebLogic Tools," discusses the WebLogic Builder in detail.

To start the WebLogic Builder through the Start menu, click Start > Programs > BEA WebLogic Platform 7.0 > WebLogic Builder.
