Creating a Setup Application
In this exercise, you will use the Visual Basic Setup Wizard to create a setup application.
* To create a setup application
- Start the Visual Basic Application Setup Wizard.
- The Introduction dialog will appear, click Next .
- Click Browse and locate the following project file:
c:\Program Files\DevStudio\VB\samples\PGuide\calc\Calc.vbp
- Select Rebuild the Project and click Next .
- Select Single Directory distribution method and click Next .
- Locate the folder, WA\Practice\Ch12\Setup and click Next .
- There are no ActiveX Server Components. Click Next .
The Application Setup Wizard will determine which files are required for distribution.
- Review the File Summary and click Next .
- Click Finish to create the setup application.
- Click OK when finished.
* To test the setup application - From the Windows 95 desktop, open My Computer .
- Double-click Setup.exe in WA\Practice\Ch12\Setup .
- The Calc Setup dialog will appear. Close any applications and click OK .
- Review the default directory and click the installation icon.
- Click OK when finished.
- From the Windows 95 Programs group , click Calc .
This starts the Visual Basic calculator sample program that was installed with Visual Basic 5.0
- Close the calculator program.
* To uninstall the calculator application - Open the Windows 95 Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remote Programs .
- Select CALC and click Add/Remove . Click Yes when prompted.
- Click OK when finished.
- Notice the Calc entry has been removed from the Windows 95 Programs group.
