I keep saying a word and speech recognition does not seem to understand; is there some way to force it to understand?
Yes. With your microphone on, click Tools on the Language toolbar and then click Add/Delete Word(s). In the Add/Delete Word(s) window, type the word you want to record; then, click Record pronunciation and say the word. When speech recognition finishes recording, the word appears in the Dictionary list.
If I make a mistake while dictating, what should I do?
You can say “Backspace” repeatedly to have Word delete the characters, from right to left, of the last word you said. Speech recognition understands the names of most of the keys on your keyboard; for example, you can say “Enter” to begin a new paragraph.
