INTRODUCTION

You can indent an entire paragraph to the right of the left margin (or left of the right margin) to make it stand out. For example, if you are creating a contract, you might want to indent certain paragraphs to make them subordinate to other text.

TIP

Adding Hanging Indents

When you're creating a resume, you might find it convenient to use hanging indents. With a hanging indent, all but the first line of a paragraph is moved to the right, giving a clean presentation of information with the emphasis on the first line. To create a hanging indent, click anywhere in the paragraph to which you want to apply the indent. Then open the Format menu and select Paragraph. In the Paragraph dialog box, click the Indents and Spacing tab and select Hanging from the Special drop-down list.
