Select the text you want to make into a numbered list.
Click the Numbering button on the Formatting toolbar.
Move through the document and place the cursor at the end of the last numbered paragraph.
INTRODUCTION
If you type a list of, say, three items, you can have Word add bullets or numbers to the items automatically. Numbered lists are useful for presenting a set of items or steps that must be in a particular order, whereas bulleted lists are useful for presenting a series of items when order doesn't matter.

Creating Multilevel Lists
You can automatically create multilevel bulleted and numbered lists. When typing text into a list, press the Tab key to automatically indent the list to a new level. A numbered list sequences like an outline (1, 2, a, b, i, ii, and so on); a bulleted list uses different kinds of bullet symbols at each level.
Press the Enter key and then the Tab key. Word automatically numbers the new line, switching from numbers to letters, assuming you're moving down one outline level.
Type your text and press the Enter key at the end of each line to move to the next line.
Click the Bullets button on the Formatting toolbar to make the indented entries a bulleted list instead of a numbered list.
The entries are preceded by bullets.

Creating a New List
If you haven't yet created the list you want to make into a numbered or bulleted list, click the Numbering or Bullets button on the Formatting toolbar and then start typing the information. When you press Enter to start a new line, Word adds the number or bullet automatically. To stop adding bullets or numbers, press the Enter key more than once.
