Setting the orientation of a text block to vertical instead of the default (horizontal) is fairly straightforward. Select your text block, go to the Property inspector, press the orientation button, and choose one of the vertical options from the list. Immediately your text field is rotated to a vertical orientation and the Rotation button found just below becomes active. Toggling this option off will actually rotate the letters in your field to appear as though you typed each letter followed by pressing ENTER (RETURN on Mac).
The beauty of it all is that no matter what orientation and rotation you set, the text field is still fully editable as if it were in its normal state. You can also continue to set the spacing and alignment for the field. Although this isn't a new feature in Flash MX 2004, it certainly works much better than it did in Flash MX.
Sorry, this one works only for Static text fields.
