Server One of a project manager’s principal tasks is communication. Project managers are responsible for communication among all members of the project team, including vendors, customers, and stakeholders.
Project 2002’s enterprise component, Project 2002 Server, was created to enhance communication with onsite teams members through the corporate intranet, and with offsite team members and vendors on an extranet. If your team members are connected via Project Server, they can communicate the status of specific tasks and have the master project updated automatically. If you’re not using Project Server, you can still use Project’s e-mail features to communicate with other team members—although you’ll have to enter their returned information manually.
Note | Chapter 15 details how to use Project’s e-mail—based communication tools. Chapter 22 deals specifically with group communication using Project Server and Web Access. |
