Chapter 11. Project Plan Review
The sponsor and the subject matter experts he or she relies upon are the prime audience for the project review. This review will always be scheduled at their convenience. The individuals who will use the project output also should be invited. They are important attendees. Because the review is a discussion of how and why some tasks will be performed, key task leaders from the project team also are needed at this meeting. Resource managers to whom project team members report also should be notified and welcomed. They will better support the availability of these team members for the project if they understand the project plan well. Including individuals from finance and accounting in this meeting also is a very good idea for larger projects.
Most people are invited so that they can gain better knowledge of the project and can knowingly support it. The sponsor is there to inspect the plan, to evaluate time and cost features, and to approve the plan or ask for adjustments. This is called the sponsor review. What the sponsor wants, the sponsor gets as long as meeting his or her requirements is feasible.
