How do I turn my pivot table into hard data?

Problem

You only created your pivot table in order to summarize and shape your data. You do not want to keep the source data, nor do you want to keep the pivot table with all its overhead.

Solution

Turning your pivot table into hard data allows you to utilize the results of the pivot table without having to deal with the source data, or a pivot cache. How you turn your pivot table into hard data depends on how much of your pivot table you are going to copy.

If you are copying just a portion of your pivot table, follow these steps:

1.

Select the data you want to copy from the pivot table. Then go up to the application menu and select Edit, Copy.

2.

Right-click anywhere on a spreadsheet and select Edit, Paste.

Here's what to do if you are copying your entire pivot table:

1.

Select the data you want to copy from the pivot table. Then go up to the application menu and select Edit, Copy.

2.

Right-click anywhere on a spreadsheet and select Paste Special.

3.

Select Values and then click OK.
