Project Trailblazer can now play Mozart and Nine Inch Nails, capture mountaintop images for display elsewhere on the mountain, capture lift-line images, and provide an email service for guests' photographs. USB provides connectivity for low-cost consumer-grade equipment that is perfectly suitable for the Silverjack engineers' purposes. The engineers discovered that USB communications are not simple and decided that the device driver development learning curve would dramatically affect their development schedule. The engineers decided on USB devices for audio playback, image capture, and memory transfer. These devices had kernel version 2.4.10 support, and the engineers merely configured, compiled, and installed the kernel, then rebooted to begin using these USB devices.
