The software CDs supplied with most graphics controllers usually include a configuration program that offers more sophisticated video settings and options than the ones provided with Windows. If you don't have the CD, you can download the software through the Internet from the maker of the graphics card or the company that supplied the video chipset.
Many of the added features and functions are things most people don't ever use (such as turning the image upside-down), but you might find something that improves the appearance or performance of your monitor, such as added controls for multiple monitors. If you decide that you don't need the add-on graphics tools, you can uninstall the program without sacrificing any of the graphics controller's performance.
