Chapter 10. Titler Basics

Inside Premiere Pro is an incredibly useful titling tool: the Titler (formerly known as Title Designer in earlier versions of Premiere). Its straightforward and easy-to-use controls help make title creation quite simple. If you know Adobe Illustrator, some of Titler's tools, such as those for stacking and positioning items, will seem familiar. In this chapter, you will learn the basics of creating and using title styles, moving and arranging text and objects, as well as loading and saving templates.

In former versions of Premiere, title files were unique files that were saved to disk. In Premiere Pro 2.0, title files are saved into the project file rather than directly to disk. If you want to share files between projects, you can still export the title as its own file; you can also import older title files from previous versions into any project. To learn more about the latest incarnation of the Titler, you'll start by examining how 2.0's new panel layout affects the title panels. Then you will explore text and object creation, how to move these elements, and how to customize their appearance.
