Companion Files

The companion files included with this book contain a variety of files and directories.

To install these items on your PC hard drive, navigate to www.wordware.com/unlockingcsharp. There are two links below Step 2: Program Files and Unlocking C#. Click on each one and save the files to a location on your computer where you can find them for the next step. (Be sure you have downloaded the dotnetfx.exe software.)

Find each of the files (ProgramFiles.zip and UnlockingCSharp.zip) and unzip them. Then double-click on each unzipped file (ProgramFiles.msi and UnlockingCSharp.msi) to transfer these files and directories to your hard drive.

The wizard that appears when UnlockingCSharp.msi is chosen offers you the chance to change the absolute path to the directory where these files will be located: Visual Studio 2005. This is the directory in which the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 suite chooses to place your projects. The default path to this directory is C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\ My Documents\Visual Studio 2005.

However, if you are sharing your PC with someone else (and the operating system is XP), you may have elected to share the machine by replacing the Owner directory above with the names of the people doing the sharing. For example, if your name is Harvey Wallbanger, you may have set the path to Visual Studio 2005 in your personal directories as C:\Documents and Settings\Harvey Wallbanger\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005.

The default path shown above works for PCs that do not share; if you share you may have to change the absolute path to Visual Studio 2005 slightly.

The files in ProgramFiles.msi are always routed to C:\Program Files, so there is no need to change this path.

• DemosSourceCode (26 projects)

• KT Source Code (9 projects)

• GS Source Code (8 projects)

• TI Source Code (8 projects, with no data)

• KT101 (9 projects)

• Financial Indexes (2 projects)

• Payup (1 project)

Tagged KT-Demo Code:

• App C -- KTVC#TaggedCode.doc. This is a Word file containing all the code in the KT (Keeping Track) project.

• App D -- DemoVC#TaggedList.doc. This is a Word file containing all of the demonstration code in the book.

• GS Install.doc. This contains the tagged code for GS.

User Docs:

• CalendarConversion.doc

• FinancialIndexesManual.doc

• KTForms.doc

• KTInstallation.doc

• KTUserManualV4.doc

These are the files/directories in ProgramFiles.msi:

• KT (C:\Program Files\KT) ” data files to support KT. These files are copied to your PC hard drive to exercise Chapter 23 on your machine.

• GS (C:\Program Files\GS) ” data files to support GS.

• FIFT (C:\Program Files\FIFT) ” data files to support Financial

  Indexes.

• TI (C:\Program Files\TI) ” data files to support TI.
